Wildflowers

Flowers … are a proud assertion that a ray of beauty outvalues all the utilities of the world.

Ralph Waldo Emerson (1803-1882)

Wildflowers are just that: flowers that are “wild” and not cultivated. Our definition does include exotic species as well as native plants that naturally occur in a region. Some wildflowers may not be considered to be “pretty,” but they are still wildflowers.

Some Plant Types are based on botanical differences (grasses, ferns, slime molds, fungus) while others are just arbitrary groups based on appearance (vines, trees, wildflowers) or popular interest (orchids, carnivorous plants).
