Slime Molds

The last word in ignorance is the man who says of an animal or plant: ‘What good is it?’

Aldo Leopold (1886-1948), Round River

Beyond an easy description, we will simply say that Slime Molds can look like gelatinous “goo.” They are not in the Plant Kingdom. Previously, they were considered to be fungi, but currently are in the Protista Kingdom which is for organisms that are not plant, animal, or fungus!

Some Plant Types are based on botanical differences (grasses, ferns, slime molds, fungus) while others are just arbitrary groups based on appearance (vines, trees, wildflowers) or popular interest (orchids, carnivorous plants).
