Mosses and Liverworts

What we see depends mainly on what we look for.

John Lubbock

Mosses and Liverworts (and Hornworts, a less known group), are land plants that do not have a vascular system and reproduce by spores instead of seeds. They absorb nutrients from the air through their “leaves.” As a group, Mosses,  Liverworts, and Hornworts are called Bryophytes.

Some Plant Types are based on botanical differences (grasses, ferns, slime molds, fungus) while others are just arbitrary groups based on appearance (vines, trees, wildflowers) or popular interest (orchids, carnivorous plants).
